INKA TERRA ASOCIACIÓN

MISSION

Generate value of biodiversity through research, conservation, outreach and environmental education that benefit global environment, local people and future generations.

VISION

We imagine natural spaces where ecotourism contributes to the prosperity of local people based on the value and conservation of biodiversity.

HISTORY

In March 2001, the non-profit organisation Inka Terra Asociacion (ITA) was established to build on the company’s 25 years of experience in conservation and biodiversity.  The core objectives of the NGO relate to scientific research, creation of sustainable development models and promoting eco business to benefit local communities.

ITA develops conservation, education, training and communal development programs supported by partnerships, with the Global Environmental Facility, the World Bank and and National  Geographic Society among others.

Inkaterra protects over 15,000 hectares of Amazon rainforest in the low basin of the Madre de Dios river, capturing 3,400,000 tons of carbon dioxide. And our Research Program, funded by ecotourism, has already provided 21 new species for science among orchids, amphibians, butterflies and one liana.
